Prime Day is Here, Here’s Our Wish List in Real Time (Plus a Few Shopping Tips)

It’s that time of year again, the Black Friday style blowout on Amazon, minus the mall stampede, has arrived starting with their countdown deals. The official event went live today, July 16th at 12 pm and runs for 36 hours through the 17th. We’ll be updating our top picks by category as the day(s) goes on and to get you started, here are a few of our go-to shopping tips and tricks to make the most of the fast-paced sale.

Make sure you’re signed up for Prime! If you aren’t already a member now is the perfect time to sign up with a free 30-day trial so you can be ready to shop the deals before they launch.

Download the app and log in with your credit card info and shipping address saved and ready to go, this way you can check out quickly and avoid items selling out while in your cart. Having the app ready to go on your phone is the easiest way to check in on new deals throughout the day.

Bookmark the sale homepage (or just leave the browser tab open to it) if you plan to shop from your computer to save some time and clicking around.

Want a sneak peek at some of the offerings? We have on good authority that following @amazonnews on Twitter is your best bet for getting the scoop ahead of time.

Create a wishlist with items you’re on the market for in advance of the sale. If it’s an Amazon basics item or a product like the kindle it’s a pretty safe bet but by keeping your “shopping list” handy you’re less likely to purchase things you don’t need and will be better able to keep tabs on items you want to keep an eye out for. Last year I snagged this toddler table set at a great discount by doing so and it’s still a huge hit in our house.

Use the watchlist feature, if you have the app downloaded to your phone it should send you alerts when products go live.

If you're an expecting parent there is a Prime Day giveaway on Baby Registries. Make a purchase of $5 or more off your registry and receive free Munchkin Latch BPA-Free Baby Bottles while supplies last.
