How to Shop Vintage Rugs on Instagram

I first fell down the Instagram rabbit hole while shopping for a new rug for my living room (the hunt is still on) when I stumbled across the account Loom and Kiln.  I loved the way they showed the rugs styled in situ. Seeing them displayed in real interiors made it easier to picture how it would look in my space and browsing their feed was far less overwhelming than scrolling through product photos on a traditional e-commerce site.

Instagram rug shops seem to follow the same formula loosely, you follow their accounts to get previews of rugs before they become available and check out their stories for additional sneak peeks. Many have a specific day/time you can shop new batches and once they drop you have to move quickly if there’s a particular piece you have your eye on. With a few exceptions, most the actual shops live elsewhere: either through the brand's website or Etsy, and shipping is fast and relatively reasonable. I recommend checking out store policies in advance of a sale going live, the last thing you want is to be reading through those terms and conditions while someone else makes off with the item in your cart. Finally, I would set a realistic budget or discuss with your significant other what you’re both willing to spend because prices are not usually posted in advance of the sale. Below, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite accounts to follow. Happy shopping!

Loom and Kiln

New England Loom

I may be partial to this shop because it reminds me of living in New England (they name the rugs after NE locales), but the traditional Persian rugs in vibrant colors, that they stock, really are the perfect way to bring just about any space together. Rugs ship within 3-5 days of purchase.
